"Keep Your Money NCUA-Safe" Campaign Helps Consumers Protect Deposits in Credit Unions

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) recently announced a new campaign to educate consumers about the safety of their money in federally insured credit unions. More than 90 million Americans belong to credit unions, but many aren't aware of the share insurance that protects this money -- much like the FDIC protects money in banks. The campaign comes as the result of a newly signed law which makes permanent the share insurance coverage limit of up to $250,000 per qualifying credit union account.

"Keep Your Money NCUA-Safe" was developed to equip consumers with the information they need to keep their deposits protected and be aware of the new coverage limit. Recent studies show Americans are concerned with keeping their funds safe, and in economic times like these, this is information everyone needs to know. Campaign PSAs and resources can provide the assurance consumers need right now. The campaign includes TV public service announcements (PSAs) and mallscapes featuring personal finance expert Suze Orman, as well as radio PSAs and an online e-calculator that consumers can check to make certain their funds are fully insured.
