The name PlowShare created says it all. Project Fed-UP not only conveys that citizens are fed up with crime but also that the Federal government is playing a larger role in upping the ante for criminals who possess an illegal gun. Conducted under the auspices of the National Crime Prevention Council and the U.S. Department of Justice, Project Fed-UP let would-be criminals know that "if they do guns, they’ll do time. Federal time." The advertising campaign was initially launched in the Bronx with support from the Bronx District Attorney and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of N.Y. Other districts took note of its success, and the campaign soon spread to the Northern and Eastern Districts of N.Y. as well as the Los Angeles area. |
